This project explores everyday urban life through its acoustic environment.
The map invites slow listening and attention to the changing sonic environments of the region.
It is also a living archive of what people make of these places: drawings and sketches, a project's first lines, a photograph, a story, a poem — each placed where it belongs.
This is an open and evolving archive — listen and contribute respectfully. When recording in public or semi-public environments, please be mindful of the surrounding context, environments, and forms of life connected to these spaces and sounds.

About Saigon_Miền Tây Sound Map
The Saigon_Miền Tây Sound Map is a collaborative project initiated by Officine Gặp, an interdisciplinary creative studio based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The project invites the community to record and share the everyday sounds of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces — from street vendors and motorbike traffic to everyday rituals and ceremonies, market chatter, and monsoon rains.
Together, these recordings form a growing, living sound repository: a resource for artists, researchers, and anyone interested in listening more closely to the rhythms and textures of life in southern Vietnam.
Alongside the sounds, the map now holds drawings, sketches and photographs — an architect's studies for a project, a walk drawn from memory — and writing: stories and poems tied to a street, a river, a house.
This map is evolving — feedback, ideas, and suggestions are always welcome.
